Alberta Artistic Swimming Awards Program

Alberta Artistic Swimming annually recognizes individuals and clubs within our sport. The Awards Program was updated in June of 2022. Awards, in the following categories are presented at our Annual Awards Banquet.

Athletes

Provincial 8-10 Athlete of the Year
Provincial 11-12 Athlete of the Year
National 13-15 Athlete of the Year
National Junior (15-18) Athlete of the Year
National Senior (18+) Athlete of the Year

Our Athlete of the Year awards are sponsored by Team Aquatic Supplies. A big thank you goes out to Team Aquatic Supplies in supporting our teams and athletes.

Coach Awards

Most Promising Coach
An Alberta Coach that has coached for no more than two (2) years in the competitive program and receives the highest point total based on their swimmers’ performance at meets as per the Alberta Artistic Swimming point system.
Recreational Coach
An Alberta Coach who coaches in the Recreational Stream. The coach must be minimally certified for the level at which they coach.
Competitive Coach of the Year
An Alberta Coach who coaches in any or both of the Provincial and/or National Stream. The coach must be minimally certified for the level at which they coach. The following criteria will be used to determine the top six (6) candidates on a performance basis.

Presented to the club that demonstrates the criteria which aligns with the Strategic Plan of Alberta Artistic Swimming and Canada Artistic Swimming.

Recognition

Athlete Spirit Awards
In alignment with our campaign against bullying and the promotion and recognition of the importance of demonstrating fair play, being inclusive and displaying a positive attitude, AAS will be recognizing athletes with AAS Spirit who exemplify, promote and inspire positive values and behaviors within Artistic Swimming.

President’s Award
Recognizes outstanding contribution or accomplishment as determined by the Alberta Artistic Swimming President.

Outstanding Achievement
An Alberta athlete or coach who achieved a high level of success in the current season as determined by  Alberta Artistic Swimming.

Volunteers

Board of Directors Award
An active volunteer who has provided ten (10) years or more of outstanding service and/or meritorious contributions to the sport at the Provincial and National levels.

Official of the Year
Awarded to an official who has judged or refereed at a variety of meets during the current season. It acknowledges an official who is continually learning and expanding their knowledge and sharing it with others.
• Nominee is recommended by the Official’s Chair.

Club Volunteer of the Year
An active club volunteer whose efforts have produced specific positive results in the club. An individual whose contributions reflect passion for the sport and its participants as an exemplary role model for others.
